Interior Minister Rana Sana Ullah has paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Police for their sacrifices in maintaining law and order.

Addressing a ceremony to pay tribute to martyrs of the police in Islamabad on Saturday, he said the sacrifices of martyrs can change the fate of nations.

The Minister regretted that payment of compensation to the families of martyrs was delayed. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif immediately allowed disbursing an amount of 1.22 billion rupees to families of martyrs.

He said over 12 thousand officials from Rangers, Police and army have been martyred in war against terrorism. He said Pakistan also faced damage to its economy worth 150 billion dollars in fight against terrorism.

Commenting on the economic condition of the country, Rana Sana Ullah said government took tough decision to save Pakistan from economic crisis. He said all political parties are striving hard to put Pakistan on right track.

The Minister lamented former Prime Minister Imran Khan for pursuing the politics of hatred and anarchy.

Court rejects plea of Dua Zehra’s father
A court in Karachi has rejected plea of Dua Zehra’s father, Mehdi Ali Kazmi to change the investigation officer of the case.

According to details, the Judicial Magistrate court Karachi east dismissed Mehdi Ali Kazmi’s plea to change the investigation officer saying the C class report of the IO has not been accepted yet.

The court said that Dua Zehra is yet to be presented to the medical board and it would not be possible to change the IO at such a crucial stage.

Earlier, the girl’s father filed a petition in court demanding a change of the investigation officer of the case. The court rejected his plea on Saturday.

The fresh increase in the petroleum products prices by the government has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday.

The petition, filed by Advocate Azhar Siddique said that federal government increased prices of petroleum products without approval of federal cabinet.

The petitioner pleaded with the court to reject the order on the hike.

All set for Re-polling in 15 polling stations of 13 wards of eight districts of Balochistan
All arrangements have been finalized for re-polling of local government elections in 13 wards of eight districts of Balochistan today (Saturday).

Polling will start at 8:00am and will continue till 5:00pm without any interval.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established a Central Control Room in Islamabad and Provincial Election Commissioner office in Quetta for monitoring and registering complaints related to re-polling of local government elections.

Re-polling would held in 15 polling stations of 13 wards of eight districts of Balochistan including Duki, Killa Abdullah, Ziarat, Loralai, Panjgur, Sibi, Naushki and Kech.

The local government elections were postponed in the aforementioned districts on May 29, 2022, due to law and order and other incidents.

First information report registered in Ayaz Amir attack case

An FIR (first information report) has been registered in senior journalist Ayaz Amir attack case at the Qila Gujjar Singh Police Station in the wee hours of Saturday.

According to details, the case has been registered against six unidentified attackers on the complaint of driver of the Ayaz Amir. Provisions of 147, 149, 506 and 382 have been included in the case.

It is pertinent to mention here that some unidentified persons severally thrashed senior journalist and analyst of Dunya News Ayaz Amir on Friday night.

The senior journalist was on his way back home after leaving Dunya News premises. The unidentified men also snatched his wallet and mobile phone.

Pakistan has reported four deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,537,297. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 30,399 on Saturday.

According to the latest figures by the National Institute of Health (NIH), at least 818 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 across the country in the past 24 hours.

Pakistan has conducted 18,305 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 818 persons were tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio was recorded at 4.47 percent.

However, rain with wind and thundershower is expected in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, lower Sindh, eastern Balochistan and Kashmir.

Heavy to very heavy falls are also expected at isolated places in Balochistan, Sindh and upper parts of the country.
