India: Pregnant woman delivers in an autorickshaw after eight Bengaluru hospitals refused bed; baby dies

Dubai: In a tragic incident, a pregnant woman gave birth to a child in an auto in the city of Bengaluru in Karnataka, India, after she was turned away by eight hospitals as there was no bed available on Sunday. Soon after the woman reached in front of the KC Hospital in Bengaluru city, but the baby died inside the autorickshaw.

The video of the incident has gone viral, and social media users are shocked.

A Twitter user @rakeshprakash1 posted: "#HospitalHorror continues in #Bengaluru: A pregnant woman delivers a baby in an autorickshaw in front of KC General Hospital after half-a-dozen hospitals refused to admit her coz of #Covid chaos. The baby did NOT survive."


The hunt for the hospital began at 3 am on Sunday. She failed to get a bed for the next six hours, and she ended up giving birth to the child in the auto she was travelling in.

In India, hospitals are running out of medical facilities because of the spike of coronavirus cases. On Monday, Karnataka reported 3,648 new coronavirus cases of which 1,452 were from Bengaluru, where the total number of cases has crossed 33,000.
