Dubai: A 21-year-old mentally challenged woman was allegedly raped by five people, including a Traffic Road Brigade (TRB) guard in the Indian state of Gujarat. Today, horrified Indian social media users shared reports of the incident that took place on August 15, but was reported by media outlets yesterday, after the arrest and detainment of all the accused.
Reportedly, the woman was on her way to meet her mother and had taken an autorickshaw, when one of the accused allegedly abducted and took her to an isolated spot.

According to Indian news reports, the man allegedly raped the woman, after which, four other men took turns to rape her. After the sexual assault, the woman was dropped back outside her house.
On August 17, three persons were detained by the police while search went on for two others.
One of the accused, was a TRB guard who had been working in the police department in Ahmedabad for the last three years. The man was suspended from duty after he was arrested.
Finally, on Friday, the remaining two men were caught. According to a police official: "We have detained the other two remaining accused on Friday, and after their COVID-19 tests came negative, they were produced before the magistrate, on Saturday. They were remanded in two-day police custody. The three accused who were held earlier are now in judicial custody."
News reports say that the accused were booked under section 376D (gangrape), 363 for kidnapping, and 366 (kidnapping a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
