Police launched a search for the “abducted girl”, expecting the involvement of some professional kidnapper. However, while investigating, the police officials sensed that something was amiss due to “continuous negotiations and long-hour calls” by the kidnapper. Therefore, they placed the girl’s mobile number, which she had taken along, on surveillance, and tracked her.
Her mobile number, was traced around 200m from her home.
According to local media reports, Rahul Kumar, Superintendent of Police (crime), Etah said: “On Saturday, she was found just a couple of hundred meters from her home.”
Upon interrogation, it was found that the girl and her boyfriend, a neighbour, have been in a relationship for around two years, despite the family’s wishes. The girl hatched the plan after she came to know that her family was planning to open a school with an investment of Rs1 crore. She wanted to use this money to elope with her boyfriend.
