Dubai: In a horrific incident, a college student stabbed his mother to death, in the Indian state of Karnataka, on Thursday, after she scolded him for staying out late. The son’s extreme reaction over such a “trivial issue”, has outraged social media users.
A Facebook user @priyatarar posted: " I'm really shocked! It's so painful to hear such news, and that too for these kind of petty issues."

According to the local police, the boy was annoyed that his mother had rebuked him for staying out with his friends late in the night. She scolded him for not listening to her advice.
The argument escalated and ended in tragedy when he stabbed her in anger, police officials said.
Another Facebook user, @himanshukakkad, commented: "So upsetting! I think he should get the death penalty for sure."
The son confessed to committing the crime, and was arrested on Friday.
Facebook user @Susan posted: “ Cruelty has no limits. It clearly states about ones mental health. So shocked!”
According to an Indian news website, the police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

In India, where teenagers make up 40 per cent of the total population, around 35,000 to 40,000 crimes are committed annually, of which 4,000 to 5,000 could be deemed severe offences.
