ACB officials said that the police official had accumulated the assets disproportionate to his lawful sources of income through corrupt practices and dubious means.
The ACP was serving at Malkajgiri division in Secunderabad which comes under Rachakonda police commissionerate. Reddy had started his career in the police as sub inspector in 1991.
The raids across the state against the senior police official came close on the heels of two similar actions against two officials of the Revenue Department sending ripples across the states. In both the cases the officials were caught with the assets of millions of rupees.
The assets found in the possession of ACP Reddy include 55 acres of agriculture land in Anantapur, four plots of 1,960 square yards in front of Cyber Towers in Madhapur, two other plots, one four storied commercial building in Hafeezpet area of Hyderabad, two houses, Rs 15 lakh in cash, two bank lockers and investments in real estate and other business, press release said.
The bank lockers were yet to be opened and investigations were on to find out other possible assets.
The market value of the lands of the officials was put at Rs 700 million and the final estimate of the value of all his assets could go up further, ACB officials said.
The raids came after the ACB kept a tab on the ACP as it had received reliable information about the official’s assets disproportionate to his lawful sources of income.
