Teenage Elon Musk had highest test scores examiners had ever seen

Maye Musk, the mother of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, shared her son’s computer aptitude test from when the billionaire was a teen. “If I remember correctly, they had to retest you because they had never seen such a high score. No wonder you are such a brilliant engineer,” Maye tweeted, with the hashtag #ProudMom.

“I have requested ISM (SA) to conduct aptitude tests on Elon Musk regarding computer programming etc. The results were outstanding,” read the document, which showed Musk scoring an ‘A+’ in both Operating and Programming.

The image that she shared was of a letter from the Director of Information Management at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. Elon had briefly studied there before moving to Canada when he was 17.

Many who came across the tweet lauded the billionaire for his excellence at an early age. Take a look at some of the reactions here:

The tweet has now received over 55,000 likes and close to 4,200 retweets. Maye Musk often shares throwback pictures of her son on social media.

The technopreneur hails from Pretoria, South Africa. He went to the University of Pretoria for a bit before moving to Canada. In 1990, Musk entered Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Two years later, in 1992, he transferred to the University of Pennsylvania. In 1997, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in economics from the Wharton School and a degree in physics.

As a businessman, Musk is seen as a renegade, and is sometimes described as a cross between Thomas Edison and Henry Ford of our time. Markets have cheered the innovations he introduced in battery technology, car manufacturing and rocket science.

Space X, which Musk heads, has pioneered reusable rockets and has sent both humans and thousands of satellites to space. When Musk first came to Silicon Valley, in California, he was researching advanced, highly-energy-dense super-capacitors at Stanford. He became CEO of electric vehicle Tesla in October 2008. Since then, Tesla has disrupted both the auto and energy businesses. In January 2021, Forbes estimated Musk's net worth at $182.9 billion.
